How Postilot works

Everything you need to know: setup, desktop use per platform, and how to use it on mobile.

How it learns your style

Postilot doesn't use a generic tone. It builds a model of you — based on what you tell it and how you edit the texts it generates. The more you use it, the more it writes like you.

Three learning sources

  • Your AI profile — age range, sector, role, personality, writing style (length, register, emoji), personal life, orientation: everything feeds into the prompt that guides generation.
  • Per-platform profiles — you can set a different profile for LinkedIn (more formal) and Instagram (more personal). The AI adapts tone and format automatically.
  • Your edits — every time you change generated text before publishing, Postilot records the final version. If you change more than 10 characters, it sends that version to the learning system. Over time, the model refines itself.

Initial setup

It takes about 5 minutes. Do it once — then Postilot works for you across all platforms.

1

Create your free account

Go to postilot.com and sign up. The Free plan is free forever: 3 posts generated per day, no credit card required.

2

Install the Chrome extension

Download Postilot from the Chrome Web Store and add it to your browser. The extension is compatible with Chrome and all Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc).

Desktop only — Chrome mobile does not support extensions.
3

Configure your AI profile

Click the Postilot icon in the browser toolbar and open "Configure profile". Fill in: age range, sector, role, up to 3 personality traits, writing style (text length, formal/informal register, emoji use), life situation and orientation (optional). You can create different profiles for each platform.

4

Open a social platform and write your first post

Go to LinkedIn, Instagram or any other supported platform. Click on a text box — the Postilot button will appear automatically. Click it, write a brief and press Generate.

How the panel works

The Postilot panel integrates invisibly into the page. It doesn't open separate tabs or take you elsewhere — it stays where you're working.

🖱️

Click the text field

As soon as you place your cursor in a supported textarea, the Postilot button appears nearby.

✏️

Write a brief

Describe in 2-3 words what you want to write about. E.g. "new product launch" or "reflection on remote work".

Generate

Choose tone and language, press Generate. In under 10 seconds the text appears in the panel, already formatted for the platform.

📋

Insert and publish

One click inserts the text directly into the field. You can edit it before publishing — every edit refines your AI profile.

+

Rewrite and variants

Not happy with it? Press "Rewrite" for an alternative version with the same brief. Or choose "Variants" to get 3 different versions of the same text to choose from.

+

Comment reply with context

When you click to reply to a comment, Postilot automatically reads the original comment text and uses it as context. The generated text replies directly to that comment — it's not a generic response.

What you can do on each platform

Postilot intercepts the text fields of each platform and automatically adapts the format of the generated text to that platform's rules.

LinkedIn

  • Feed post creation (Quill editor)
  • Comment replies — coming soon
Format: paragraph text, no Markdown bold or italic, max 2 trailing hashtags. Max 4 paragraphs + 3 total hashtags.

Instagram

  • Caption after media upload (from instagram.com in desktop browser)
Format: text with integrated emoji, 5-8 hashtags separated on a new line at the end. Max 2200 characters.

Facebook

  • Posts in your personal feed and pages you manage
  • Replying to comments (referencing the post topic)
Format: conversational tone, max 400 characters. Ideal for short, direct texts.

TikTok

  • Caption after video upload (from tiktok.com in desktop browser)
Format: strong hook in the first 5 words, energetic and direct tone, max 200 characters. The text must entice viewers to watch the video.

YouTube

  • Community posts (from your channel's Community tab)
  • Text during new video upload (title and description)
  • Comments under videos (referencing the video topic)
Format: direct tone, max 500 characters. Generated text is based only on what you write in the brief — no invented information.

X / Twitter

  • Original tweets in the main composer
  • Replying to others' tweets (with original tweet context)
Format: max 270 characters (leaves margin for additions), direct tone. No hashtags unless you explicitly ask for them in the brief.

WhatsApp Web

  • Messages in individual and group chats (WhatsApp Web in browser)
  • Smart reply to received messages — Postilot reads the message you're replying to Pro
Format: natural and conversational tone, short sentences. Smart reply to messages is only available on the Pro plan.

How to use Postilot on mobile

Chrome extensions don't work on Chrome mobile. But you can still use Postilot from your smartphone: generate text from the webapp, copy and paste into the social app you use.

01

Open the Postilot webapp

From any mobile browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) go to postilot.com/gestione/. Log in with your account. To always have it handy, add the page to your home screen: on iPhone tap "Share → Add to Home Screen", on Android "Menu → Add to Home Screen".

02

Use Quick Brief

In the dashboard you'll find Quick Brief. Select the platform (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok…), choose the tone and language, write in a few words what you want to talk about and press Generate. The text is created following your AI profile and that platform's rules.

03

Copy and paste into the app

Press Copy to copy the generated text. Switch to the social app (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp…), open the post or message creation screen, and paste. You can edit the text before publishing.

Works without reopening Postilot every time

If you add postilot.com/gestione/ to your home screen, it behaves like a real app. It stays open in the background, doesn't lose your session, and you can switch back and forth with the social app without logging in every time.
